International Intellectual Property

PiperPat

http://www.piperpat.co.nz/

Pipers is a New Zealand intellectual property firm that has assembled, and maintains, a truly impressive collection of international IP links. You can drill down by category, e.g. IP Offices Online, or perform word searches against their databases.

European Patent Office Internet Links

Another useful collection of international links, organized by category.

esp@cenet
http://ep.espacenet.com/

Database provided by the European Patent Office. Search European patents, as well as PCT and Japanese abstracts.

IP Australia
http://ww.ipaustralia.gov.au/

Both IP Australia and IPO New Zealand (www.iponz.govt.nz/) are examples of the utility of searching foreign patent and trademark databases directly. While these sites are not always easy to navigate, these organizations allow you to search for legal status and assignment information that is not available through services like INPADOC.

INPADOC Kind Codes
http://www.european-patent-office.org/inpadoc/stats/

You’ve just done an INPADOC search, and an attorney wants to know what all of those patent status codes mean. The INPADOC kind codes are periodically updated, and this directory listing will contain the most recent list, arranged alphabetically by country code.
