4/14 ABLL/LLNE Joint Spring Meeting

This spring’s meeting will be held at MCLE’s Conference Center, 10 Winter Place, Boston. Lodging is available at a discounted rate at the Park Plaza Hotel.

The National Conference of Bar Examiners (NCBE) is in the process of redesigning the bar examination, which nearly every aspiring attorney must pass. The goal of the NextGen bar is to ensure that the bar exam tests the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for competent entry-level legal practice in a changing profession. The first administration of this bar exam will be July 2026. The NextGen Bar aims to provide questions integrating both doctrinal and skills-based learning focusing on the analytical and problem-solving skills attorneys need. Many law librarians, legal research and writing instructors, clinical faculty, and all those teaching experiential and skills courses view the new bar exam, testing “7 Foundational Skills,” as an opportunity for greater attention to fundamental skills. The changed format has law schools wondering: How do we best prepare our graduates? What changes do we need to make in the curriculum? What changes would Corporate Law Librarians like t0 see?
